6 Course dinner paired with six limited edition Sierra Nevada ales. Steve Grossman Brewery Ambassador  will be in attendance and will provide us with an insightful presentation on the artisanal  beer making at Sierra Nevada.

Our beer selection for this meal includes “The Best of Beer Camp 2011”  where beer enthusiasts around the world apply to attend Sierra Nevada’s experimental quest for new styles and flavor spectrums prevails. This year will also include two ales from the tap. Ovila Saison ale and Life & Limb, a maple laced ale.

Included in the cost will be a Ovila Saison glass goblet.

1st course Ovila Saison (TAP)- Hazy blonde in color, rustic and refreshing ale with earthy and spicy aromas. Notes of green grass and a slight citrus Tang.

2nd course Weizenbock -7 %  bold Bavarian style hefeweizen with pronounced banana and clove aromas layers of complex malt flavor

3rd course California Common – A steam beer which is California’s native style using a specialized ale yeast producing clean flavors of a refined lager

4th course Double IPA “ two headed monster” – This West Coast India Pale Ale is loaded with pronounced citrus and grapefruit hop notes with a hint of sweet malt. Using “ new school” aromatic hops during dry hopping.

5th course Juniper Black Ale- A russet colored ale with intricate aroma of roasted malt and fruity esters with a touch of resinous pine notes from the use of Juniper berries.

6th course- Life & Limb (TAP)

Life & Limb is a collaborative effort, the brainchild of Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. and Dogfish Head Craft Brewery. Life & Limb is a 10% ABV strong, dark beer that defies style characteristics- brewed with pure maple syrup from the Calagione family farm in Massachusetts and estate barley grown on the Grossman “farm” at the brewery in Chico, CA. The beer is alive with yeast-a blend of both breweries’ house strains-bottle conditioned for added complexity and shelf life, and naturally carbonated with birch syrup fresh from Alaska.

Life & Limb is dedicated to the family of beer drinkers and enthusiasts worldwide who continue to support the little guys, iconoclasts, entrepreneurs, and pioneers who risk life and limb to shape the vibrant craft-brewing community.

Chef Aarons’ Preliminary  menu notes;

For the 1st course a pate of duck and veal encroute with tangy mustard for a traditional Belgian tavern style opener paired with this saison. Other courses will include spicy  pomegranate grilled lamb ribs  to complement the hoppy IPA  and perhaps some Alsatian style venison for the Juniper Black Ale. Life and Limb with its hint of maple sweetness will be used for the dessert.

Menu will be posted after tasting some more ales. It’s a dirty job but someone’s got to do it.
